Meet the Inventor

Isn’t it amazing that in this day and time of high end technology, there are still simple things being discovered that makes you say, “Why didn’t I think of that?”  The Toppitt!^TM is one of those things.  It is an easy to use garden tool, but with a variety of uses.  Simply put, the Toppitt!^TM can transform an already pretty container of flowers into an elegant fountain of beauty.  Turn it over and create an expensive looking Ivy tree to accent your front door.  Double stacking gives you the illusion of a double round topiary.  What’s even more amazing is that anyone can do this for a fraction of the cost of buying an already sculptured topiary.  It’s fast, easy, inexpensive and it’s sure to be every gardener and decorator’s delight.

The creative mind behind the Toppitt!^TM is Deborah Bump.  For some time, Deborah wanted the elegant look of the topiaries that have become so popular, but, she was hesitant to spend the kind of money it takes to buy one.  “I just love the look of the English Ivy trees beside a majestic door, or the way a Boston fern above a setting of colorful flowers creates such a beautiful setting on the corner of a deck” says Deborah.  Determined to have that “look”, she set out on a mission to create her own topiary.  She found herself going from big box stores to local nurseries in search of just the right tools to make a topiary.  This effort proved futile.  In her desperation, Deborah began working with rebar until she found the right combination that has now become the Toppitt!^TM. 

With the crudely made proto type, she set out to have her tool made.  The idea worked so well that it occurred to her that others may like her idea too.  She then had more produced, and in a borrowed and beat up old truck, drove off to Canton First Monday trades days in Canton, TX.  The Toppitt!^TM was an instant success.  Deborah sold out her first load of Toppitts by noon on the first day of the event!  Since then, the Toppitt!^TM has gone through several revisions, modifications and improvements and has finally reached the point of being patented and marketable.

When asked about her journey and success, Deborah is quick to give the credit to God.  “I had no idea, or intention of going big with this.  I just wanted something to look pretty on my porch.  But God had bigger ideas in mind, and once I understood that He has a mission for me, I knew there would be no stopping this idea.  I have a goal in mind to build orphanages and the Toppitt!^TM is God’s way for me to fund that goal”.  In addition to the Toppitt!^TM, Deborah has other ideas that she is working on, and has teamed up with her husband Paul to work on and create a catalogue of products that they can market under the label of Beulah Farms.  With such a noble cause and the  determination to go with it, it will be exciting to see how Deborah’s dream unfolds.  “I think God has given everyone a gift for this life, and it’s up to each one of us to figure out what it is and to use it for His benefit”, says Deborah.
